System Engineer

Introduction

Are you passionate about designing, integrating and improving reliable technical systems? We are looking for a System Engineer to support the development, implementation and lifecycle management of systems and solutions within an international organisation.

In this role, you will work closely with Product Management, R&D, Software, Hardware, Quality, Operations and customer-facing teams to translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable and compliant system solutions.

What you'll do
  • Define, analyse and document system requirements, architectures, interfaces and system-level specifications.
  • Translate customer, product and business needs into clear technical requirements and verification criteria.
  • Design and develop system solutions across hardware, software, firmware, connectivity and associated services.
  • Coordinate system integration, configuration and verification activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain system models, technical documentation, interface control documents and lifecycle records.
  • Plan and execute system testing, validation and verification, ensuring solutions meet defined requirements and quality standards.
  • Investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify system risks, dependencies and improvement opportunities, communicating technical recommendations clearly to project teams and management.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, partners and customer teams to resolve integration challenges and ensure successful system delivery.
  • Support change control, configuration management, product maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering processes, standards, tools and best practices across the organisation.

Who you are

Essential Skills and Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in systems engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, software engineering, control engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering, system integration, product development or a similar technical role within a complex product or technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements management, system architecture, interfaces and verification and validation.
  • Experience using requirements management, modelling, documentation or engineering lifecycle tools.
  • Ability to analyse complex technical problems and develop practical, reliable and commercially focused solutions.
  • Knowledge of change control, configuration management, risk management and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
  • Organised, proactive and adaptable, with a strong focus on quality, customer needs and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in lighting, controls, building management systems, IoT, electrical products or industrial technology is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
